Smoke Tree— Cotinus

Cotinus coggygria

Deciduous bushy tree or shrub with dark red-purple foliage that turns scarlet in fall. Pink, hairy, plume-like panicles grow to be 6″ long that become grey as they mature, creating a smoke-like effect. This plant matures at 15′ tall x 15′ wide.
